About Us

🍞 Welcome to The Bread Kitchen CIC: Growing Community, Cultivating Skills

Our Story: The Seed is Planted

Founded in 2016 by Mike and Cathy, The Bread Kitchen CIC (Community Interest Company) was established with a simple, powerful vision: to create a nurturing, innovative space where the people of Great Yarmouth could connect, learn, and grow. More than just a training provider, we are a thriving community hub—a fact reflected in our history of being an award-winning organization recognized for delivering truly transformative learning engagement opportunities.

🌱 Our Home: A Place to Flourish

We are proud to call our 4.5-acre site in Cobholm our home. This expansive, green space is the heart of everything we do. Far from a typical classroom, our site is a living, working environment where participants engage in practical, hands-on learning.

The dedicated Bread Kitchen team offers a unique curriculum designed to foster well-being, skills, and confidence:

  • Hands-on Skills:Gardening and Animal Care—connecting participants to the natural world and the responsibilities of nurturing life.
  • Core Education: Functional English and Maths to strengthen foundational skills for life and work.
  • Essential Life Skills: Practical training in everything from budgeting to healthy eating, ensuring participants are equipped for independence.
  • Community & Purpose: Meaningful Volunteering opportunities that build social connections and a sense of belonging.

🌟 Our Philosophy: 'Good to Grow'

The core of The Bread Kitchen's mission is our 'Good to Grow' journey. This philosophy underpins every program and project we undertake. We believe that, just like the seeds we plant, every individual has the potential for incredible growth when given the right environment, resources, and encouragement.

We are dedicated to reaching every corner of our community through:

  • Diverse Provision: Offering robust alternative learning provision and supporting home school students who thrive outside conventional settings.
  • Community Outreach: Taking our expertise beyond the Cobholm site with our onsite and outreach gardening projects, helping to beautify and engage neighborhoods across the area.
